Our Commitment
Borderlands Market (“we,” “us”) is committed to providing an inclusive, accessible experience for all attendees, vendors, and online visitors, including people with disabilities. We strive to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA for our website and to provide reasonable accommodations at our in-person events.
Digital Accessibility (Website & Online Forms)
-
We aim for clear structure with proper headings, labels, keyboard access, sufficient color contrast, and descriptive alt text.
-
Vendor applications and RSVP/ticket forms are designed to be usable with screen readers and without a mouse.
-
We regularly review pages for accessibility issues and address them as we improve content and features.
-
Some content or third-party widgets (e.g., maps, payment processors, social feeds) may have accessibility limitations beyond our control. If you encounter issues, please tell us (see Feedback below) and we’ll offer an accessible alternative whenever possible.
Event Accessibility (On-Site)
Accessibility can vary by venue. For each market, we work with property owners and partners to reduce barriers. Typical accommodations include:
-
Mobility access: flat or ramped entry where available; wide aisles where space allows.
-
Accessible parking: designated spots where provided by the venue; load-in assistance upon request.
-
Restrooms: accessible restrooms where supplied by the venue or portable accessible units when possible.
-
Seating/Rest areas: limited seating and shaded areas where feasible.
-
Service animals: permitted at all events in accordance with applicable laws.
-
Scent/fragrance sensitivity: outdoor settings reduce exposure; vendors are encouraged to avoid strong aerosol use near walkways.
-
Wayfinding: visible signage and staff/volunteers available to assist.
If an event location has known constraints (construction, uneven surfaces, limited lighting, etc.), we’ll note this in the event listing and email updates so you can plan ahead.
Requesting Accommodations
We provide reasonable modifications to policies and auxiliary aids/services unless doing so would result in a fundamental alteration or undue burden. Examples include:
-
Reserved seating near stages/demonstration areas
-
Early/assisted entry for mobility needs
-
ASL interpretation or captioning for stage announcements
-
Alternate format materials (large print, plain text)
How to request:
Email [borderlandsmarkettucson@gmail.com] with the subject “Accessibility Request” and tell us the event date, your needs, and the best way to reach you.
-
Please request at least 10 days before the event for ASL or captioning, and 5 days for most other accommodations. We’ll try our best with shorter notice.
Vendor Accessibility
Vendors can request assistance with load-in/out, booth placement (e.g., near accessible parking/paths), and power accommodations (if available). If our standard application form is not accessible to you, we will accept applications by email or phone upon request.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We train our team, review our processes, and update our website and event operations as we learn more and receive feedback.
